Stolen to Fight is ultimately a story of love, sacrifice and healing. But as Tillie navigates the dire circumstances she finds herself in, she faces many things that may not be suitable for all readers. Including graphic violence, abortion, slavery, kidnapping, explicit consensual sex and on-page sexual assault.

I am not a fan of using sexual trauma merely for shock value. Please know that this story is far more about finding strength and empowerment after assault than suffering. I hope Tillie’s story resonates with other survivors as it was very healing for me to write.
